Giveaway: Wife 22
Hello dear friends! The people over at Random House and Big Honcho Media has generously offered me two copies of WIFE 22 by MELANIE GIDEON to give away to my readers.
Here’s a quick synopsis of the book:
When Alice Buckle, who has been married to William for nearly twenty years, receives a survey in her e-mail from the Netherfield Center for the Study of Marital Happiness, she is in the doldrums. She loves her husband but they’ve grown distant, she is bored with her job, and her adolescent children need her less now. And she has reached the age at which her mother died. So as she idly begins answering the questions, she finds herself baring her soul in an anonymous survey she never even intended to respond to. As she struggles, she realizes it has been years since anyone asked deep, serious questions of her, and really listened to her answers. Soon her entire life as she knows it is called into question.
I just finished this book over the weekend and it was different from what I expected, but in a good way. It was a funny, laugh out loud, yet touching book about what it takes to have a happy marriage and a happy family. I definitely recommend it and I’ll have a review of the book sometime later this week.
In the meantime, however, if you are interested in reading this book for yourself and entering the giveaway, please fill out the form here. The giveaway is open to US addresses only and will be opened until next Monday, June 4. Two winners will be selected and each will receive one copy of the book. Best of luck to all of y’all!
Another Year Down
I’m sure you’ve all noticed my lack of posts lately, but I was so busy with finals that I just couldn’t find the time or the effort to visit blogs or make any posts. Thankfully, another year of dental school is finally over and I’m almost half way done with dental school.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next two weeks where I’m going to try to relax as much as possible before summer school picks up again. It just never ends! I also have national boards to prepare for in July so I guess this will be a little warning that my poor blog will probably be much neglected this summer as I’m busy cramming everything I learned in the past two years into my brain and hoping that I remember it all when I take the eight hour national board exam.
In the meantime, I hope you’re all doing well! Do ya’ll have any plans for the summer?
Spring Break!

It’s finally spring break! And y’all have no idea how excited I am for it! Unfortunately for my blog, I’m headed out of town (to Florida, with a pit stop in New Orleans) so I won’t be updating or commenting. And since I’m headed to the beach, I was ready to pack my entire library into my luggage, but my friends have limited me to bring just two books! Let me tell you it was a tough decision to make on which two books to bring. On the bright side, a few of them are bringing two books too so that we’ll be able to swap books once we’re done with them.
Anyways, I hope y’all are having a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day and see you all when I get back!
I’m Back – Well Kind Of
I’m back from the mini break that I took from the blogging world. I’ve had a nasty little bug the past two weeks and the last thing on my mind was reading and reviewing books, but I’m starting to miss everyone too much to leave ya’ll hanging. I think I may have tonsilitis, but hopefully I won’t need to get them removed (fingers crossed). I’ve finally surrendered to the little bugger though and made an appointment to see the doctor later this week. Hopefully he’ll have some good news for me.
In the meantime, what have I missed? Any good books that I need to read?
Santaland Diaries

Last weekend, in between studying for finals, I was able to sneak out for a few hours and attend the Santaland Diaries play that is currently airing at our local theatre. I have to say, watching Santaland Diaries definitely put me in the festive and holiday mood. Living down here in the south, its easy to forget that its already December. Our temperatures finally just dipped below 60 degrees this week and you can bet everyone has been complaining about the “freezing” temperatures. I know those of ya’ll up north are probably scoffing at us and calling us wussies, but 30 degrees weather is abnormal for us down here.
When my friend suggested that we go see Santaland Diaries, I just accepted the offer because I thought it was something to do besides studying. Plus I’m always looking for an excuse to distract myself and not study. It wasn’t until I got to the theatre that I realized Santaland Diaries was an essay written by David Sedaris about his experience working as an elf at a Santaland in Macy’s. Surprisingly enough, despite my love for memoirs, I haven’t read anything by him yet. I’ve heard his name thrown around a lot and people are always telling me how funny and amusing his books are, but I just haven’t found the time to read his books. That’s defintiely going to change now though.
If Santaland Diaries is just a small dose of Sedaris’s humor and antics, then I’m really excited to pick up one of his books. I was smiling if not right out laughing throughout the play. It usually takes a lot for me to really laugh out loud, but the play was hilarious and I’m sure a lot of the credit is due to Sedaris as well as the actor. I’m not sure if Santaland Diaries is playing in any other places, but if you do get the opportunity to see it, I would highly recommend it. Its funny and entertaining and if nothing else, it’ll put you into the holiday spirits.
Are you planning on seeing any holiday plays this season? I know The Christmas Carol is a must for a lot of people.
